IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHANCE

Chance was one of our big, beautiful draft horses. He was 11 years old and rescued from a kill buyer. Out of 80 horses auctioned that day, he was the only one who went to a rescue. When Chance arrived at Central Pa Horse Rescue, he was underweight and his hooves had grown over his metal shoes. When the shoes were removed, a significant part of one of his hooves came off. His only hope for survival was to have his hoof rebuilt with a special epoxy. To help his damaged hoof grow, the epoxy was re-applied every six to eight weeks. The vet believed he wasn’t in pain. He always got around well and was loved by everyone at the rescue.
